The Forestry Commission has teamed up with Red Rose Forest, Bury Council and others to create a new community woodland in Whitefield . The site will be transformed into a landscape of open space and mixed woodland for you, your family and friends to enjoy.
The site provides excellent links to Irwell Valley and also contains a wide variety of habitats including woodland, hedgerow, grassland and a pond
The site was originally part of Hurst Farm. Red Rose Forest Trust acquired the land in November 2001 with the help of a contribution by the Metropolitan Borough of Bury. It was then leased to the Forestry Commission who will be responsible for developing and managing the woodland in the future.
