Foot & Mouth Disease

As the number of foot and mouth cases decreases many of our forests are reopening. Detailed below are the forests and facilities that are open to the public. These are subject to closure due to forest operations, please check the access update

Whinlatter Forest Park
All open but restricted access to the fells.
Grizedale Forest Park
All open except restrictions around Home farm.
Delamere Forest Park
Visitor Centre, Shop and Tearoom, walks and cycle routes. Small area of foresy closed on Kingstown side.
Gisburn Forest
All car parks, picnic sites, 3 way-marked walks, 3 cycle routes and the permissive right to roam on foot are now available.

Dodd Wood

Carpark, Cafe (Owned and Managed by Mirehouse), some walks on lower slope. Summit walk closed due to harvesting.
