Changes
are afoot at Grizedale Visitor Centre.

The
walled garden, famous for it's sculpture adventure play area,
is about to have an overhaul! The much loved pheasant, grasshopper
and hedgehog have come to end of their long life - they have
literally been loved to death by thousands of children over
the past 12 years.

"Local children
and parents have been working with us on our 'play council' and helping
us with ideas for new play experiences. Working with the local community
and Grizedale staff contemporary artists will be designing the new play
interactions" said Emma Bartlet, Education Co-ordinator.
Whilst developing
our new designs and fundraising to put them into practise, some temporary
play features will be appearing over the next 2 months.
Activities
will include a giant sandpit, a Velcro play wall, climbing hill, tunnels
and slide. So there will still be fun to be had in the walled garden,
whilst providing feedback on play to be incorporated into the new permanent
play area. The project is collaboration between Grizedale arts and the
Forestry Commission. We at Grizedale are keen to hear your views on
the future play area, plus feedback on the temporary features.
