As well as providing a place for learning and play North West England Forest District is a place of work. Around seventy people are directly employed in the management of seventeen thousand hectares of land. Craftsmen, Visitor Centre Staff, Foresters, Machine Operators, Administrative Staff, Rangers, Land Agents, Community Liaison officers Tearoom Staff & Mechanics all work together as custodians of the land.
