For GCSE and A level groups. With the emphasis on tourism the ranger will give you a deep insight into the management of the forest. How do we balance wildlife and tree harvesting? Walkers and mountain bikers? Explore many conflicting issues and decide for yourself what is the best way to manage the forest for recreation, wildlife, timber and landscape.

Walkers and mountain bikers? Explore many conflicting issues and decide for yourself what is the best way to manage the forest for recreation, wildlife, timber and landscape.

This programme examines how the Forestry Commission manages the forest and can include a combination of the following. Timber production, soil science, recreation, conservation, landscape design, as well as how conflicts of management are resolved. The programme can be tailored to your needs. When possible this can include a visit to an active recreation, conservation or harvesting site, ending with a decision making exercise.

Throughout the year we have many artists in residence working in, and about Grizedale forest. Here you will get the opportunity to meet one of the artists, and get to hear them talk about their work, and contemporary artistic practice. Talks are usually accompanied by a slide presentation.

In the very heart of the forest is a temporary sculpture area. Here students get the opportunity to work alongside one of the resident artists, and are able to create their own artworks in the forest environment. The session is ended with a group discussion of the work created. All materials provided.

Unleash the artist in you by creating anything from natural materials. Understand the need to respect and look after the environment and create earth music using sticks and stones. Bring your soul out and join the magic of the forest.

For GCSE and A-Level groups we will tailor make sessions for you. These can be based around sustainability, forestry, environment issues or any subject that you would like us to cover.
