One of the most
popular topics. Release your senses of smell, sound, touch and sight as we
guide you through the forest. Our legendary Blindfold Trail awaits for the
bravest of hearts.
On our Discovery
walk the group will be led deep into the heart of forest, on an exciting,
multi-sensory adventure. The group will learn what animals live in the forest,
and how they coexist. You will be shown a unique ecosystem, and become part
of a food web. This programme encourages pupils to use all their senses to
learn about the forest. It covers areas of Science and Geography curriculum,
such as Living processes.
Explore words in
a new way. Take a walk through the forest using inspiration from the environment
you travel through to create prose and poetry to reflect your journey. Covers
areas of English Curriculum.
A programme of
hands on discovery to explore the creepy crawlies of the forest, through bug
hunts, games and quizzes.
Bring your favourite
Teddy for a woodland adventure. Go on special Earthwalks, and don't forget
your picnics!
Groups are shown
some of the many contemporary artworks that have made Grizedale famous. From
this inspiration groups are encouraged and shown how to create their own artworks
out of natural materials, in 2-D and 3-D. This programme covers large areas
of the Art Curriculum, and is our most popular programme.
We challenge you
not to enjoy our fun filled session in the forest. Measure, predict, problem
solve, use mathematical solutions to explore the forest environment. Real
maths for real questions.
For younger groups
the Blindfold Trail is preceded with a story to fire the imagination . The
group will be blindfolded and made to follow a rope trail into the heart of
the forest and will experience crawling through a giant Badgers Sett! Better
hope the Badgers are not at home. A fun activity that activates all the senses.
This is then combined with a sensory walk where you will be lead on a series
of short activities that offer a unique perspective of the forest.
Learn mapping skills
in a fun and interesting way. Make circular maps, treasure maps, and learn
unusual ways to measure distance. Find out what things look like from a birds
eye view. This knowledge of mapping can then be tested on a guided orienteering
session where groups will get to try out a permanent orienteering course in
the forest.
Find out what amazing
things trees really are. Why are they here? How do they grow? Why are they
so important? Answer these questions and more on a fun programme of exploration.
Delamere forest
is a fascinating place for discovery all year round. This programme will encourage
you to use your senses to explore the changing seasons, and create something
special to take home wit you.
Enter the giant
world of Minibeasts. The ranger will take you through a journey of centipedes,
spiders and ants. How does they live? What do they eat? Make up your own soil
and become a millipede!
How do bats travel
in the darkness? How do animals use smell and camouflage to survive. Discover
how animals live and track them down.
Another popular
event. How does animals build their shelter and who does it protect them from?
Discover many other habitats lurking in the woods and an opportunity to build
your own shelter.
How do plants and
tree grow? What is it like to be a tree, swaying gently in the breeze? Understand
the mechanisms that keep them alive, such as photosynthesis and nutrient transport.
A day of tremendous fun!
Discover the complex
relationship of food chains and webs by playing a number of theme games in
the heart of the forest. Who will be the predator and who will be the prey?
Tadpoles and pondskaters
galore! Delve into the world of aquatic paradise and the underworld of minibeasts.
What's the difference
between a pine and a fir? How tall is it and guess it's age. Build your own
tree and delve into the world of natural giants. A topic packed with fun and
games.
